Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

10 Trailers to Whet Your Appetite

Due to my first night of insomnia in about 5yrs I thought I would catch up on some trailer viewing. Sometimes the trailer can give away an entire movie or show you all the good bits. But one thing can be said about trailers - they are the marketing genius that can whet your appetite and leave you wanting more. For example, The Unborn trailer was sensational but the movie was appalling and all the good bits were in said trailer but that trailer made me get off my butt and watch the film on its day of release. Now that is powerful because I can be one lazy so and so. Anyways - I have found 10 amazing trailers for films releasing this year. You be the judge. I have rated each trailer out of 5 stars and will be keen to see how my reviews for these films go when they do come out. How many of these films have suckered us in through the brilliant editing of the trailer. I could not get a trailer for Avatar as James Cameron has failed the first nine trailers made by his editing team. He does not feel that any of the trailers made so far actually capture the essence of his film in 3mins. Special thanks to www.traileraddict.com for the emeddable trailers.

Director Sam Raimi returns to the horror genre with Drag Me to Hell, an original tale of a young woman's desperate quest to break an evil curse.

Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

In retaliation, the old woman places the powerful curse of the Lamia on Christine, transforming her life into a living hell. Haunted by an evil spirit and misunderstood by a skeptical boyfriend, she seeks the aid of seer Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) to save her soul from eternal damnation. To help the shattered Christine return her life to normal, the psychic sets her on a frantic course to reverse the spell. As evil forces close in, Christine must face the unthinkable: how far will she go to break free of the curse?

I Love You Man

Peter (Paul Rudd) gets introduced to the "Temple of Doom" by Sydney (Jason Segal), a special room for men only. To push the fact, Sydney has a jerk off station. Odd comedy - should get the regular Paul Rudd/ Seth Rogan crowd.

Splinterheads

The trailer for Splinterheads. Splinterheads tells the story of Justin Frost, a slacker whose life is turned upside down when a traveling carnival rolls in to town for the summer, bringing with it an outrageous crew of carnival workers, who call themselves 'splinterheads' and earn a living by hustling an endless stream of townies out of their hard-earned cash. When Justin begins to fall for one of them, a striking, street-smart con-artist named Galaxy, he finds that there are a few people in his life complicating his pursuit of his dream girl: a love-sick police sergeant who happens to be his mom's ex-boyfriend, his 116-year-old grandfather who is the newly minted "World's Oldest Living Man," his best friend and current employer Wayne Chung, and Galaxy's insanely jealous, belligerent carnie boyfriend Reggie.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

They are calling this a teaser trailer for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, but it looks like a behind the scenes sneak peek from Director Terry Gilliam and a look at some of his previous films. He gives us a glimpse at some of the production designs and artwork for the film. Currently in post-production, Parnassus should be arriving at a theater near you sometime in 2009. This is the last film of Heath Ledger that was not completed. Heath's character will then change into Johhny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Ferell. It looks truly Gilliam style and while it is no where near complete it looks like it could be good.
