No Melissa George - Boo

I loved the first 30 Days of Night and got very excited when I found this trailer this morning but am disappointed it did not get a cinematic release, unless I am wrong. The trailer clearly says it is coming soon to Blu Ray and DVD. It also says an October 5, 2010 release in the US so me thinks this is the DVD release date. It doesn't look as woeful as a lot of films I have seen in the cinemas so I think it could have made money on a cinema release. Oh well, studios think they know best.
It has been a year since the isolated Alaskan town of Barrow's population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband Eben, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella Oleson has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, she is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith, the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.
If it is going straight to DVD then I think its biggest fail is hearing that Melissa George wanted to reprise her role but due to studio timing conflicts they went on without her - some patience probably would have given this film a better name to have on the posters and guaranteed a cinematic release. But for me their biggest epic fail was killing Josh Hartnett in the first film - he made it for me
If I am wrong and you know of a cinema release or have seen it yourself please let me know.

Yes, that is a prosthetic head modelled after my father's. He played the small part of the communications guy who gets surrounded by the vampires and later his head is found on a stick ... Go dad!
