Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

Hi Crew,

First of all a BIG HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. I hope you all had as much fun as I did but did not have to start work at 8am on New Years Day - woeful experience.

If you haven't seen my top 10 of 2009 as yet then click on this sentence

To bring in the New Year our great friends at Paramount have given me an awesome prize pack to give away.

I have 3 x Prize packs, comprising a double pass to see the film Up in the Air (releasing January 7) and a Couples Headphone - two sets of in-ear headphones (one black, one silver) with double adapter (so you can listen to one channel together) in an embossed tin.

These are great for being at the beach, on the bus or wherever there is only one IPOD or MP3 player. Very cool and thank you Paramount. Due to the tickets this comp is only open to AUSTRALIAN residents and I apologise for this if you are out of the country.

To win this prize pack you need to let me know which character you would like to see George Clooney play and why. This can be left in the comments section below. It can be a remake of any film or from a great book or whatever. The most original ideas will win. Pretty simple!! I will message winners for their details.

George Clooney stars as Ryan Bingham, a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road but is forced to fight for his job when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he's worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he's met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

I think George Clooney should play sidney poitier's role in "to sir with love"

I think George Clooney could play a lot of roles but one I would love to see him in is as " Capt Hilts, The Cooler King" in a remake of "The Great Escape".

This is not only a classic but the role was made really memorable by Steve McQueen and both he and Clooney are cool dudes.

Listening Hollywood??

A remake of 'Casablanca'. George Clooney is the only modern actor with the style and panache to be able to play Rick.

He'd be great as Captain Von Trappe in a remake of the Sound of Music. He is the nephew of Rosemary Clooney after all so must have inherited some of her singing talent. Also he has the presence and beauty to carry off this role. There would be none better.

The votes are in. I asked two friends of mine help choose the winners out of the 5 above. I hope no-one is offended if they did not win. I will see if I can find some movie tix for you.

Winners -
Max - because he made us all laugh
Janet - because I completely agree!!
MelGee - because we all agreed and he is such a VonTrappe and I would love to see a remake of Sound of Music modernised R&J style

It's ok, I had Hitchcock on the brain when I suggested it. In retrospect, Kevin Spacey would be a far better Bates.

He would make an awesome Norman Bates. Spacey rocks
