An origin story in the true sense of the word, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale - a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind's hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Oscar-winning visual effects house WETA Digital - employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for "Avatar" - will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.
Hellz Yeah - I am excited. I am one of the only people that has enjoyed all the Planet of the Apes films and this looks like even more goodness from the franchise. Throw James Franco into the mix and I am stoked. I was hoping he would have been an ape but I can live with him being the man responsible for ending humankind.
The film is also starring Tom Felton (Draco from Harry Potter series), Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Brian Cox (The Bourne films, Troy), John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun) and of course Andy Serkis as Caesar (Gollum). Who else could pull off those massive moves and beyond human body posture.
The film is being directed by Englishman Rupert Wyatt who I no nothing about besides the fact he directed The Escapist in 2008. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is releasing on August 5 this year - that is quick!! Bring it!
