SEE TRAILER HERE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I screened a film "Love in the Time of Cholera" this morning (review later) and prior to this film I had one of my projectionists place a copy of the trailer of the new Baz Lurhmann film Australia starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman prior to the feature. I was standing out of my seat half way through it with a tear of joy and wonderment in my eye at how stellar this film looks.
It literally blew my mind - the colors and cinematography and literally how Baz has captured Australia, the culture, the aboriginals, the bombing of Darwin, the heat, the feel and the country. OMG
I have attached a couple of images - unfortunately I cannot locate a copy of the trailer online but as soon as I do I will place online - you have to see it!!! It is going to be a BIG screen movie and I can already feel Oscar itching to throw some golden clones towards this film. I mean like, all of them!! I am dubbing this to win more Oscars than Titanic and that's a MASSIVE call. Titanic is my all time favorite film.
Australia is the story of Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), an English, aristocratic woman who leaves England to follow her husband to Australia. He is in Australia with the intention of selling his cattle station the size of Belgium. However, Lady Ashley believes he is having an affair and travels out there to confront him. The property is in the north of Australia, and she embarks on an African Queen type journey, accompanied by a rough, hewn cattle drover (Hugh Jackman). Ultimately, Lady Ashley finds herself inheriting the cattle station and, in order to save it, she and the drover must undertake an epic cattle drive to Darwin. In the course of that journey, she falls in love with the drover, and the Australian landscape, and realises that her life is not over, and there’s always a new life to be had. The title Australia is intended to sum up the story of her life - her journey, the landscape, and the people she meets - all of which transform her life forever.
I am thinking Gone with the Wind mixed with a better Pearl Harbour and sprinkled with The Man from Snowy River and Maestro'd by the master of visual, The Baz.
I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep u posted!
