BREAKING DAWN: A Review

Easily the best in the series
Category: Reviews
Breaking Dawn brings us the beginning of the final act in the Twilight Saga - it was always going to be the most difficult to film as it is the longest and possibly most tedious of the stories to tell. It is not for first Twimers
It is not for critics, it is not heterosexual males. It is for Twihards, romantics, tween and twink females and males, young homosexuals and anyone that breaks the stereotypes I have just placed them in
Breaking Dawn Pt 1 sees the beginning of the end - it is the romantic culmination of all three books prior and is the lull before the storm of the final act. It has the least action and is romantically overloaded but for me this is easily the best film so far in the franchise.
Bill Condon easily brings us the best looking film of the series and honestly the one that looks the least cheesiest - he brings the film out of the "Bold and the Beautiful" styling and sets and makes it a professional looking mainstream adaptation. Also, surprisingly he brings the best performances out of all the actors. He even makes Taylor Lautner look like he can act
I still love you Taylor but thank god for you you are incredibly hot
Condon has come from critically acclaimed films like Gods and Monsters, Dream Girls and Chicago. This guy can make many things look good and he was a surprisingly perfect choice for Breaking Dawn. It also helps that they split this last book into two films, a la HP7, so they could do it properly..................... and do it properly they do.
The film starts with the wedding and it is one of the happiest moments of the film franchise and they make such a huge spectacle of it - it is simply a dream wedding and may have some of the more hopeless romantic types shedding a tear or two. All the families are there and it introduces us to some of the extended family of the Cullens and some more of the Cullen coven that will have more important roles in the conclusion. It also shows the last happy moments before all the shit starts hitting the fan and has all the school friends there. The speeches will have you in hysterics with the most notable being Bella's mum Renee (Sarah Clarke - who is best known as Nina Myers from 24), and Bella's school "friend" Jessica (Anna Kendrick).
After the wedding comes the honeymoon - and we all know what takes place on the Cullen honeymoon - this is one of the most divine places for a honeymoon and it's a fun calming honeymoon with some laugh out loud sex scenes
Most notably Edward crushing a wall with his passion. It was a happy place until sulky Edward started brooding yet again - it was one thing that annoyed me from the books and also the movies - they all brood so bloody much. Just get the hell over it grumpy pants!!
And after the wedding you should know what happens but it is great seeing Rosalie come around and become a Bella supporter and I love the wolves and the vamps teaming up - it is bonding and there is a pivotal moment when Jacob realises that the Cullen family is as supportive and loving as his wolf pack and this is when he realises that the Cullens aren't to be hated and feared but more a part of his extended pack.
I think quite a few people will dislike this film simply because it lacks a lot of the action of the preceding films. There is action but not enough as the others, I also think people will miss the darker Volturi clan (watch the credits for the Volturi). This is the lull before the blood storm, it is the psychological calming of the waters and is the most character engaging film of the lot. This film gives us the back story of a lot of the members of the Cullens and opens there characters up and allows us to see who they are and for this I loved it.
The acting reaches a new high for the entire cast and for the first time in the series I haven't wanted to punch Kristen Stewart in the face - she steals the film from nearly everyone in this one and has grown to appreciate the character that she will forever been known for. Everyone lifts their game and you can see they have grown into their roles and want to see it end on a high note. Even uber hottie Lautner pulls off many a scene in this without the need for taking his shirt off and he has way less laugh out loud line deliveries. His interaction with the other characters proves he finally deserves to be there and he makes up for that appalling farce known as ABDUCTION. Ashley Green, always my favourite is less quirky in this one, which I missed, however she has never looked more sexy
. RPatz just has to brood and could pull that off in his sleep but you can tell him and Stewart are back together in real life as their chemistry is outstanding. She even smiles in this one
The tricky birth and death scene is handled exceptionally and this was always going to be a bit challenging - I am not sure whether it was the first cut sex scene or the dreaded embryonic sack scene which originally scored the MA rating for Australia but this was cut back and more eluded to in the film and looked good. The birth scene is not pretty and Bella's make up was sensational and ALL I WILL SAY IS OMFG TO THE LAST SCENE PRE CREDITS - TOTAL GOOSEBUMPS.
The film is out now playing on nearly every screen in the country - if you're a Twihard - get there now - if you're a hard ass critic - get over yourself
Rating 9 out of 10.

The first one was actually really good, and then they have been progressively getting worse. The last one was unbearable.
I was interested to see what you thought about it though. Good review, as usual

So good to see you still commenting on Orble - thought you had written it off - you are my goal to beat in the daily writer's list now hahahaha. You still so well and haven't written in ages - just proves how good that shit was when you wrote it.To be honest Orble has gotten quite boring since you stopped writing and that annoying alter ego of Troy's came out of closet
I liked Eclipse as it had Xavier Samuel in it - my fave Aussie actor and finally that bitch Victoria got what was coming
Hope you like it - go and suss it in full DIG at the newly (or more like half renovated) Charlestown Hoyts - still $9.90 and the three that are complete are stunning and all installed by moi
Rock on lovely - back there in Dec sometime - will try and call if they give me a minute to breathe

Hmm, I was wondering, is it possible for a human being to carry a baby vamp? O.o
