After much speculation, relative unknown Henry Cavill has landed one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood. The British actor will play Superman (and Clark Kent) in Zack Snyder's still-untitled Superman film, set to be produced by Christopher Nolan.
I have never heard of him
If you're wondering who Henry Cavill is, he is best known for his role on the Showtime series The Tudors and for playing the young Albert Mondego in the 2002 film The Count of Monte Cristo. He also stars in the upcoming Tarsem Singh film The Immortals, set to be released in November.
I have abundant faith in Snyder so if he thinks Cavill is Superman then I am on board - I was always a fan of Brandon Routh returning as I really like him in the suit. I am glad we will not see Jon Hamm as the Man of Steel but would have been happy to see Matthew Bomer from White Collar in the role. Well we will see in about 22 months when the film releases worldwide. Now they just need to actually make it
.
The 28-year-old actor has had quite the history with franchise projects in the past: he auditioned for Chris Nolan's Batman Begins but lost to fellow Brit Christian Bale, tried out for the new James Bond but was edged out by Daniel Craig, and was extremely close to actually playing Superman himself in Superman Returns, considered a frontrunner before Bryan Singer joined the project.
What do you think of Cavill as The Man of Steel?

Only time will tell, I have faith though - I'm sure this guy must be doing something right to be coming so close all the time.

Not cool at all
I agree if this guy keeps missing out and if Snyder thinks he is good then there is something definitely there. Oh well - we will know in about 2yrs lol..
Thanks for the comment Shaun.
