Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. Trailer of the Day: The Human Centipede - A Twisted Horror

This is twisted and creepy and something Bryn will love - hahaha

How some director came up with this I will never know

The Human Centipede

During a stopover in Germany in the middle of a carefree roadtrip through Europe, two American girls find themselves alone at night when their car breaks down in the woods. Searching for help at a nearby villa, they are wooed into the clutches of a deranged retired surgeon who explains his mad scientific vision to his captives' utter horror. They are to be the subjects of his sick lifetime fantasy: to be the first to connect people, one to the next, via their gastric system, and in doing so bring to life 'the human centipede'.

Director Tom Six's twisted biological horror film The Human Centipede confidently goes where few films have dared to go. The sick vision of a demented surgeon, a role portrayed so brilliantly by Dieter Laser is sure to join Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface in the horror pantheon, as a 100% medically accurate nightmare. I was thinking along the lines of Jeremy Irons in the twisted Dead Ringers.

This is one of those types of films that always makes me think my OWN film ideas must be sheer brilliance, and that if these guys can get a movie made so could I!

Methinks whoever wrote this has been playing a little Silent Hill: Homecoming...

How twisted is it? I watched it while eating breakfast - so not cool11

Janet - def not one I could see you lining up for

Eileen - do it do it do it - I get first interviews when your movie gets produced Hollywood is getting desperate, they have nearly remade everything

SHJ - I am assuming that's a PC game? I think whoever wrote it smoked a bit too much of the groovy green weed.

Thanks for the comments ladies and gents

Sam - it's like car accidents - horrific but you stayed glued to them. It is also something that can get an emotional high out of you regardless of the direction. Fear and disgust reach a new level kind of thing. Same reason all teenagers love scaring the shit out of themselves with horror films

Foggy - ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww indeed

See now, this is too much. I loved horror films as a kid. Scream was my absolute favourite (and still is as far as teen slashers go). Then Wolf Creek came, which tested my limits but I could still see its cinematic artistry. Following this though, I saw Hostel which unapologetically took it up a notch. But then, then!, what finished it for me was The Hills Have Eyes, and this one seems as though its sole aim in trying to craft a revolting plot is not all that different (just its title, The Human Centipede, is gross enough!!!) Think I'll skip this one and happily keep my lunch down haha

Oh gross! How could somebody even come up with this idea, which by the way is quite interesting, though gross.

Anyway, I for sure can't watch this; it's a little too gruesome for my taste buds.

Hahahahaha Akito - nice look at it - loved Hostel and Hills Have Eyes though You should speak to Bryn from Horrorphile - he will show you some horror films to mess u right up

Mona - I have no idea how someone could come up with this let alone a film distributor jumping on board and wanting to make it - you should both watch the Jeremy Irons film - Dead Ringers I also think that Eileen could be right - she could get a film produced easily if this is the way of things to come.

I have been meaning to do a post on this one for a while, you beat me to it Jason.

This one has had me intrigued since the enthusiastic festival buzz it has garnered.

It's definitely unique JD. Very twisted and something new to see and be scared by. I never thought so many Orblers would be interested in it. Looking forward to seeing it but my only concern is it won't get an Australian cinematic release due to no known people and we may have to wait for DVD here.

Jason, I think you're right, I can't see this kind of movie getting a cinema release at all! I'm surprised A Night of Horror didn't get it for their festival.

I actually saw this film last night. My brother-in-law had 'procured' a copy of it by some means. Frankly, it's terrible. Naturally I kept watching to the end because the concept is so bizarre and that alone is enough to keep you awake, but everything about it is just so shoddy and C-grade - not a second of directorial flair, and the acting is woeful to say the least. It has the look and feel of an 80's video nasty (my nephew actually walked into the room early on and said jeez this looks old) which I enjoyed for a while having hired out a hell of a lot of horror movies as a nerdy teenager myself. So from a nostalgic point of view it had something to offer.

But there's no way in hell this will ever see a cinema screen here or most anywhere I'd say. It's very much straight-to-video dreck. It's surprisingly non-gory. The whole thought of the defacation angle is more disgusting than anything you see before you, so basically the most horrifying thing about the film is what it conjures in the mind. The physical reality of what you see on screen is surprisingly tame and bloodless by today's standards. The guy playing the German psycho doctor is quite funny for a while in that he's just so bizarre but he's a truly bad actor, and the director Mr. Six may be a bit of a sick puppy but he's totally crap in his execution of any of the skills required to be even a half-decent filmmaker.
