Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

Trailer of the Day: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

: Boo - this one looks scary!
Category: No Category
OK - it's more of a teaser and the start I found a little bit lame - just black screen and talking but then it shows just enough and gives a couple of jumps to prove this could be one scary film and my fingers are crossed it is as good as El Orfanato. It is a remake of a 1973 (I was 1) tele-movie of the same name. I just LOVE the poster.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Movie Poster

Sally (Bailee Madison), a lonely, introverted child, has just arrived at the 19th century mansion her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) are restoring. While exploring the sprawling estate, Sally discovers a hidden , long-undisturbed basement. Unwittingly, she unleashes a race of malevolent, dark-dwelling creatures who intend to drag her and her family down into the mansion's bottomless depths.

It is good to see Guy Pearce appearing in a film again and I think him and Katie Holmes would make a great couple, especially one getting the shit scared out of them. Bailee Madison is a sensational young actor. She is light years ahead of her years and a less pretentious updated Dakota Fanning child star. He acting in the film Brothers was just mind blowingly strong and at only 11yrs old she already has 20 roles under her belt. She is going to be good in this. The film is produced, written and "presented by" Guillermo Del Toro and is releasing in the US on 21st January 2011. The website is nearly complete but at the moment is only a title page - you can eventually suss out more cool stuff HERE.

Hmmmm, That last "Boo!" is great, but I reckon it'll be PG-13. My brother worked with the composer here in Sydney recently.
