I PROMISE TO KEEP IT BRIEF

District 9 ($17-)
OK - I promise to make this one of my briefest reviews as I know basically every person on Orble who has ever watched a movie has put in a review of this and I am sorry for not reading any of them - I didn't want to read or hear anything about this movie until I saw it.
This is a great film about human rights but using prawns to relay the story. Wait until you see it and you will understand. The film has a 2 part story to it - the first part is a documentary on the way that aliens are treated and the violence related to Sth Africa's past is so relevant in this.
Then the second part turns into a high action sci fi that is not only believable but it's riveting, I was on the edge of my seat thoroughly enjoying it. And the humorous geeky oddball turns into an action hero that is superbly acted by Sharlto Copley. Neill Blomkamp is an amazing first time director nurtured brilliantly by visionary producer Peter Jackson. Talks are already underway for a sequal and I would love to see a District 10 with aliens coming to Earth guns-a-blazing
It is amazing - this film was made for $30mil - Transformers 2 was made for about $200mil and the action and CGI is preferable in this film by miles. Jackson is a master of budgeting well.
One thing that seemed strange to a few people was the fact that humans and aliens knew each other's language so well yet there is no way anyone would ever understand the aliens. Although we worked out the aliens had been here for over 20yrs so I guess it is plausible.
This is one to see - it's AWESOME and worth a full ticket price of $17- Best film I have seen since Star Trek. Told you I would keep it short

Secondly, we should treat each other equally, regardless of their races, skin colors or ethnics! Honestly, I haven't get in touch with Extra terrestrial form yet, but I will let you know, if I have the chance to approach with them, Jason!
Honestly, I've waiting for this film since last year. It seems that my expectation about the film is right...

Wilson - thanks for the gratz but it's not my 272nd review - this is an exaggerated count of how many District 9 reviews I have seen posted in the last few weeks - although they are all worth it as the film is brilliant.
I think you will love this one!!

Did you really think I would let Star Trek be hurt by a price rise, or Titanic for that matter - haha

I only read one review on here and could have sworn it was yours. Oh well.
Hope you like it! I think what sets it apart is that it is something new and original (to a point) that most cinema these days is lacking.

I was lucky in the same way with The Blair Witch Project, knew very little and saw it very early on.

Ewan McGregor sat in front of me at the premiere also - had such a great memory of that night. I just wish I could remember everything they said to me - but that was 1000's of brain cells ago.

Yes, but never trust a movie by its trailer. And you know what they say about a great trailer ...

Film & TV on DVD
I just saw this one last weekend and posted my own review yesterday. You can read it HERE if your interested.
From said review:
"Dark and witty, District 9 lovingly salutes the films of Sci-fi past while retaining a fresh originality. Avoiding traditional beats, the character driven work is ripe in social commentary. Brutal, invigorating and decidedly real when viewing, this is an exciting, emotional and suspenseful sci-fi horror experience."
