Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. Mel Gibson is Back in Edge of Darkness

t looks as if someone's decided to take a risk and invest in Mel Gibson's career again. Last November Gibson wrapped a project entitled Edge of Darkness, which he shot with Ray Winstone and Danny Huston. For months the film has been looking for a distribution home, and finally it's found one. Warner Brothers has decided to take the plunge and has acquired the rights to the film. The feature is based on the BBC miniseries of the same name, which centered on a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Dept, whose only child is murdered on the steps of his home.

Martin Campbell directed the film that is currently in post production. The script was adapted from an original story by Troy Kennedy Martin, and was written by go-to-guy William Monahan and Andrew Bovell. The production team behind the film includes Graham King who produced The Departed, and Michael Wearing who produced the original miniseries.

Edge of Darkness centers on a veteran cop (Gibson) whose only grown-up child (Novakovic) is murdered on the steps of his home. The cop unearths his daughter's secret life and discovers a world of corporate cover-ups and government collusion. Huston takes on the role of a shady businessman while Roberts will play the role of the daughter's distraught boyfriend.

Gibson's last major film project was the 2006 epic Apocolypto, which he directed but did not star. Ray Winstone was recently seen in the blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, while Danny Huston starred as William Stryker in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I have always loved Gibson on film and this looks awesome!! Bring it!

All good Amy - I just think that is when Mel is at his best, hurt, angry and screaming for revenge

Thanks for the comment!

Eespecially now you can download them in less than a minute. It must beat waiting an hour for each of the trailers to load

It's about time Mel came back and revengeful to boot.
