WE ALL LOVE A GOOD LIST :)
Category: Interesting
I have no idea why but I dreamt about this list last night. Is this an Orble issue - people dreaming about their sites? It is kind of scary hahaha. But I kept dreaming I must write a list again - I keep getting hassled by number one visitor and first visitor to Salty Popcorn, Sam, "where is your Top 10 actors list?", "where is your Top 10 Director's list?" and so on. I have been working on these lists forever and a few others but for some reason this one popped into my head last night so as my subconscious is telling me today is for the TOP 10 by Genre.
If you already know my fave films a lot of these are already in it and you probably already know most of them, so why am I writing it then - ask my subconscious. Perhaps I will follow this up by my TOP 10 lists of all the below genres.
Genre means "kind" or "sort", from Latin: genus (stem gener-), Greek: genos, is the term for any category of literature, as well as various other forms of art or culture e.g. music, based on some loose set of stylistic criteria. Genres are formed by conventions that change over time as new genres are invented and the use of old ones are discontinued. Often, works fit into multiple genres by way of borrowing and recombining these conventions.
While the scope of the word "genre" is commonly confined to art and culture, it also defines individuals' interactions with and within their environments. In order to be recognized as genre these interactions and environments must be recurring.
1) Drama TITANIC
2) Foreign CINEMA PARADISO
3) Sci-Fi THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
4) Crime SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
5) Fantasy AVATAR
6) Action DIE HARD
7) Animation HAPPY FEET
8) Horror THE BIRDS
9) Comedy DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS
10) Musical WIZARD OF OZ
