Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

Now before everyone rushes to tell me this has already been released as far as I can find out it has only been released in Europe and Canada. In fact it is already on DVD there but still no US or Australian release date set. Annoying - is this because of the pending US remakes that they are trying to sabotage the originals from our viewing pleasure? I tried buy it on Ebay this morning but at close to $50 for a DVD I got disheartened.

The Girl Who Played with Fire, Noomi Rapace

If you are unaware of the Millennium trilogy of books then you have been in hibernation - these are the adult books for grown up Harry Potter addicts or the replacements for the Da Vinci code set of books and they are so much better!!! And scarier and action packed etc.

The new film sees Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) and crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) once again caught up in a brutal murder investigation. Having served his prison sentence, Blomkvist returns to Millennium intent on exposing a billion dollar sex trafficking ring. When two of his researchers are murdered, Salander is framed for the murders and emerges as the police's chief suspect.

Unconvinced, Blomkvist attempts to track her down and find out the truth. But secretive hacker Salander goes on the run and soon stumbles upon secrets of her own past

The sad thing about these books is that the author Stieg Larsson died prior to the books being released. I am unsure whether this meant his books were never edited as I did find a few sections dragged in the books but they always make up for it by the end. Have only read the first two and am on the hunt at second hand bookstores this afternoon for number 2.
