Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. as usual i have barely seen any of the films nominated . . . does it seem like they nominate flicks that either havent yet been released, or only opened to limited release?

i hope Heath gets his award, but then again i wouldnt discount Ralph Fiennes with his role in The Duchess

Morgan - I think it is more that they have all been released in the US. I have not seen half of them and am judging them on the trailers, the actors, who I think deserves the turn etc. It was hard passing on Leo but Sean Penn and Milk looks amazing - mark this as one to see - it's about the first openly gay man in US Congress.

Hmmmm no Dark Knight for Best Picture.
Hopefully the Oscars still work a little differently and can find room for a non-drama and non-musical/comedy.
Interesting to see Cruise nom for Best supporting actor in a comedy.
Thanks for posting.

WALL-E should be up for best motion picture - drama and best motion picture - comedy
I hate the way comedy and musical are lumped together.
Thomas Newman should be nominated for WALL-E's score.
Let the Right One In should be nominated for best foreign language film.

Tom Cruise should get the Golden Globe for Tropic Thunder, but Heath will get it.

Jason,
so have there been any $16.50 movies for you this year?
I'll be doing my horrorphile best of the year selection in a couple of weeks.

Movie Mall - I doagre that Dark Knight should get the nominaion for best picture but I will be very surprised if a "superhero" film wins a best picture category. I really think Cruise deerved the nomintion - I nearly wet myself watching him in Tropic Thunder - thought he was the funniest thing in it. Pleasure for posting and thanks for ommenting.

Bryn - I could not agree more - WallE was ^%$#ing sensational. Ithink Heath over Tom - h was brilliant and it's the right thingo to do.And - no, I just wet through my list - no $16.50 movies. 3X $16- films. Dark Knght, Australia (the most argued film ever released and please don't start it up again) ad WallE - but I never wrote m review for WallE - there were so many up already. Ooh - I might have to do my best of the year to - sounds like great idea - and I know our lists will be SOOOOOOO different. LOL
