It was a big hyped release for Soderbergh's latest trailer for Haywire. It looks exciting and filled with lots of great actors and lots of action. Come one - it has Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum and then the actual lead actor Gina Carano - I have absolutely no bloody idea who the hell she is.
I would have thought having a lead actress we actually know would be a bit more appropriate in a Soderbergh film?? Apparently Carano is a US Gladiator and what looks like a wrestler, it appears "mixed martial artist" is the best way to describe her. So she's a female ROCK (or is it Dwayne still?).
It looks B grade La Femme Nikita rip off with laughable dialogue delivery from the lead.
But, that being said I do like a good Soderbergh film so my final thoughts are on hold. It is also great there is an action film coming out with a female lead that isn't Angelina, although I still love you Jolie
Beautiful freelance covert operative Mallory Kane is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can't authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Mallory is quickly dispatched on another mission to Dublin. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her
This one is slated for release on January 20th 2012.
