Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. He's Just Not That Into You ($8-)

He's Just Not That Into You ($8-)

Based on the wildly popular bestseller from Sex and the City scribes Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, He's Just Not That Into You tells the stories of a group of interconnected, Baltimore-based twenty - and thirtysomethings as they navigate their various relationships from the shallow end of the dating pool through the deep, murky waters of married life, trying to read the signs of the opposite sex... and hoping to be the exceptions to the "no-exceptions" rule.

Gigi just wants a man who says he'll call - and does - while Alex advises her to stop sitting by the phone. Beth wonders if she should call it off after years of committed singlehood with her boyfriend, Neil, but he doesn't think there's a single thing wrong with their unmarried life. Janine's not sure if she can trust her husband, Ben, who can't quite trust himself around Anna. Anna can't decide between the sexy married guy, or her straightforward, no-sparks standby, Conor, who can't get over the fact that he can't have her. And Mary, who's found an entire network of loving, supportive men, just needs to find one who's straight.

While I was really hoping that My Bloody Valentine would be the valentines movie of 2009 unfortunately this one got released two days before and sold out most sessions on Saturday packing in happy couples celebrating valentines. So, I decided to check it out on Sunday to see what the fuss was all about. The film starts out really well, it ends really well but the middle of the film is so gaddamn boring.

The characters played by Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck are a cute married couple who I enjoyed watching - they actually make a great couple. The Justin Long (I love you) and Ginnifer Goodwin are heaps of fun and my fave couple to watch, although to be honest when sparks do start to fly - I didn't find them actually suited to each other (I am still waiting for you Justin ), but their story has the most meaning. I loved Drew Barrymore's character and could find her a bit like this in real life - I would definately be friends with her. Scarlett Johansson is just an annoying skank who with the help of another of my loves Bradley Cooper ruin another unhappy marriage. And E from Enterouge Kevin Connolly and his relationship with Scarlett's character is also boring.

It is written by the Sex and the City guys but it is nowhere as funny as Sex... naturally is. The film looks good, sounds good and has good actors but the end result is mediocrity. It does nothing for women and if anything paints them as stupid and slutty and neurotic. As for men it makes them see women as only a piece of meat or completely different species who cannot communicate with each other.

It might be a fun movie to watch with your partner - this way if you want to start cinema snogging you won't miss anything Worth $8-

Hi Jason,

As I said to Rusty when she reviewed the book, earlier .. I really look forward to seeing this film as I felt (from the shorts) that the actorswould do it justice and loved the scne where Drew Barrymore is rejected by seven technologies! *lol* I felt then that the humour apparent in the book wouldnt be lost on the screen. I will get along to it soon and really enjoyed the extra punch your words have added to my anticipation.

As a counsellor I think this film will help many people through the tremors of recognising certain truths apparent in the early dating days...

Lilla.

Hi Jason,

There were so many people at the cinemas on Saturday! Though, admittedly, a wet Valentine's Day wasn't the best time to see a romantic comedy with my mates.

I thought the movie was alright - they tried their best to stuff most of the scenarios from the book into the handful of relationships in the film. Like I was saying to Lilla, I didn't think it was spectacular, but it was overall a fun film to watch.

Lilla - very interesting about counselling - I think the Justin Long & Ginnifer Goodwin characters highlight some male to female thinking truths. I wanted more of Drew Barrymore but she isn't in it that much and most of her is shown in the trailer.

Rusty - yeah Saturday was packed everywhere - I am glad u enjoyed it - I might have to read the book now. I did enjoy half the characters but Scarlet was making me cringe. I enjoyed moments but overall it was a let down for me.

Thanks for the comments ladies - have a good one.
