Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. It just felt like a waste of 2hrs. There is not much I can say about this latest Australian film. Well, there is actually - what is happening to the Australian film industry?????????????? I keep reading articles saying that people just don't trust Australian films and avoid them like the plague. There is a reason for this - MOST OF THEM SUCK BEYOND ALL IMAGINING!!!
And this is one of them. Lame ass story and just boring!!!!
One thing I will say is that the acting and production qualities aren't that bad. I think everything worked well except the story - once you start looking at your watch in a movie, trying to work out how long it's been going for and then how long it theoretically has left you have to know the film is in trouble.
Great acting from newcomer Danielle Catanzariti who plays the title character and I really enjoyed her brother, from the film, Christian Byers - who also recently starred in The December Boys with Harry Potter himself. Expect to see a bit more of Christian.
Keisha Castle-Hughes is great as always and Toni Collette shines wherever she appears. I heard this interview with her the other day where she said that due to filming commitments a few years ago she had to turn down Bridget Jones Diary - OUCH, that must have hurt!!!
Anyways - Hey Hey It's Esther Blueburger is a film you will no doubt be forced to sit through in high school and then made to write a paper on it. At least you will get two hours out of school!!
The most expensive film ticket in Australia is $16-. I would pay $5- for this and only to watch Toni, Christian, Keisha and Danielle's performance!!

I was sort of interested in seeing this until I saw the trailer...might wait until it's on telly.

Yeah - sorry to the people disappointed - I REALLY wanted to see this. If you do want a good Oz film to watch. If you haven't seen it yet, hire out The December Boys. I loved it!!!
