Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I may also throw in the odd post of whatever the hell I like. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! PLEASE NOTE: I rate my films different from the standard 5 star approach. As I work in the cinema industry I am aware that the most expensive general admission ticket is $16.50. My rating of a film is based on what I think the ticket is worth in a dollar amount up to $16.50 (a perfect film). If I think a film is worth about $5- it's probably not worth watching in my opinion. I totally forgot Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Sorry - when doing my holiday flicks yesterday I totally forgot Forgetting Sarah Marshall. My bad and yes pun was intended. LOL

FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL (2008) $9-
This film I found totally unspecial. Written and starring Jason Segel and brought to you by the crew behind The 40yr Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

It is the story of a loser lazy guy who so unbelievably is going out with a really hot TV star played by the intergalactic rising star Kristen Bell who is constantly busy being Veronica Mars, deciding whether she's a bad guy in Heroes and four other films on the way. But in this film - she is just boring, I know she's the love interest but hmmmmmppphh she could have said NO to this script. Well Sarah Marshall (Bell) splits up with Peter (Segel) as she's been screwing around with a looney British Rock Star who is played by the scene stealing hysterical Russell Brand - most notably just out of St Trinians. This guy is the movie - totally the funniest thing in it with a close runner up going to Paul Rudd who is extremely funny as the stoned surfing instructor. Anyway, back to the story. Peter is depressed after the split so decides to go on a holiday to Hawaii - and guess what - ends up going to the same resort that Sarah and the rock god are staying at. Lots of uncomfortable moments and comedy ensue but the best bits - all in the trailer. I just find all these comedy films are trying unsuccessfully to emulate the success and story of the one and original romantic comedy "Something About Mary". And if I had to stare at fat Peter Segel's penis one more time I was so out of there.

Wait for DVD! And I could find no better way to sum up this film than by using one of their own posters.

Where's here?? I am pretty sure this will get a major world wide rollout - excluding Asian countries unless they put their little blurry thing over it. LOL. It is not like you see his penis through the whole film and when I did see it my mouth fell open because I was pretty sure schlongs aren't allowed on film. But then I thought maybe it's only erect peckers. LOL. (I really wanted to use the word one more time so I could get another word for dick into my response) So - in the first 5mins you get a screenful and then in the last 5min another viewing but that was enough and unnecessary. Hence my thoughts the film was attempting some shock humor that worked so well in "Something About Mary".

Good to know. Not sure if I would have gone to see it but I really won't bother now.

They did have a good marketing campaign though. Before the movie itself was advertised a friend and I were driving and saw one of the posters on the the poster board at a bus stop. Because it looks hand rendered it did have us questioning if it was a disgruntled ex or a movie so it made us talk about it before we'd even heard of the film.
