Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. THIS SITE HAS NOW MOVED TO WWW.SALTYPOPCORN.COM.AU - FOR ALL THE LATEST CONTENT PLEASE HEAD THERE
: Sad sad sad times but also new beginnings
It is with a heavy heart but slight excitement that I announce that Salty Popcorn, Sydney Table and Total Randomness are leaving Orble and taking me with them.

At close on 2000 articles and 5000 or so comments I have had enough of the lack of care on the network of Orble. I mean - we, the writers, are all that appear to be on Orble - there has not been a member of Admin present for months. No one has been replied to, no news has been provided, readerships and comments and hits have steadily declined when all the while prior they skyrocketed - it is my belief we lost a server but, oh well, no one to fix it

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY SALTY POPCORN

March 26th 2013 21:01
: OMG - NEVER STUCK TO ANYTHING THIS LONG BEFORE
Today marks the official 5th birthday of the mighty and powerful Salty Popcorn idea. It was on this day back in March 2005 I wrote the first article, god it was hideous. About 30 words long and looking like it was written by a 12yr old dyslexic using his toes on the keyboard.

Salty Popcorn, Film Reviews, Jason King, Movie Blog, Andrew Brusentsev, Anna Hayward, Adam Shearsby, Ben McHolme, Claire Smith, Cody Sheehan, Dara Shashoua, Nick Stanbrook, Mitch Lewis

: Review and Interviews by Adam and Cody
JK's NOTE: Huge thanks and congratulations to two of the Salty writers, Adam and Cody, who had their first baptism in fire and entered the mad snake pit of Red Carpet interviews at the premiere of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. All went mildly well and they got great images but being placed next to a speaker pretty much assured the sound was pretty bad so next time we will have a microphone and next time we will crash tackle Jeremy Renner so he does not get pulled away as soon as a handshake is made without any questions being made. Sadly the bloggers of the world are considered the bottom feeders as we don't have sponsors - just a shit load of readers!! But you will wait and see people - as Salty is aiming to take over the world of film writing!! Gratz to Cody for fine photography and video and extra points to Adam for flirting and catching a certain Gemma Artterton's eye!!

Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Tommy Wirkola

: Nice to know they are reading!!
So I reviewed the bizarre film, THE NULLARBOR NYMPH nearly two months ago after Triple M had this bizarro promotion where it would turn this Z grade film into a phenomenon - it was actually a truly awesome experience and a trip back to Ozploitation heaven. Tarantino would have loved it. For the review of the actual film and the night please visit it HERE

: Anyone know the answers?
I have had no response and no verification on an article written in the Writer's Forum from APRIL 24th and have just noticed all writer's forums articles after 2010 are missing. The same article was sent as a letter to support on the same date - again no reply - is Orble running with no one at the helm?

My article and and question also sent to support was to ask why all Google Ads have disappeared off my sites - see below

: Pics by Federico Chiesa
I just love these - Retired Villains in their heyday. Federico Chiesa decided to photograph villains in their older years during retirement. They are so art deco kitsch and I just love them - totally want either The Shining Twins or Vader on my wall in a frame!

Carolina Trotta provided special effects, makeup artistry and styling for the project

: Way Cool
Sean Hartter has made posters of films that, title wise, we are familiar with, but there is a slight difference; they were remade as if they belonged to a different era or a different genre, the name of the movie was there, but the actors were different, the style was different, and I love the concept.

How cool would some of these films be - I could now imagine them all as remakes of these fictitious originals

: Yay Santa Horror
WOW - this film is awesome. Both Tim Burton and The Brothers Grimm would be elated watching this. It takes the tale of Santa and makes it evil Just think THE THING meets Christmas and you are on the money.

Top 11 of 2011

January 4th 2012 21:54
: Huge Sequel and Commercial Year
Top films 2011, film reviews, best films

Finally I have found the holiday motivation to sit down and write out my top 11 films of the year, I decided to go with the TOP 11 as it was 2011. This is the first year I have actually had a few weeks off over the summer season and the holiday and weather has been so nice I have found that I am neglecting my time off by sitting at a computer, instead I have been walking and reading in the sun as well as eating and drinking and basically doing nothing [ Click here to read more ]

: Special Thanks to Mitch for his efforts!!!
What a day this past Sunday was. Hungover to the max we had the opportunity to head into the Australian Premiere of Puss in Boots and I scored media accreditation for myself and Salty writer Mitch. Mitch proved he was a champ with the questions and I do photography so I left him on the carpet to do the questions while I headed into the paparazzi snake pit to photograph every celebrity that turned up.

Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Puss Boots, Premiere Photos
