It's been a while since we have seen a damn good Jim Carrey film, his last few were ok but the general public gets used to all comedic actors and fall out of love with them quickly unless they can keep coming up with new tricks. Carrey is one actor who, while some of his films got mundane, managed to keep the public's interest by doing some comedic drama, Truman Show, and some great drama, Eternal Sunshine.
I do apologise that my title is only half correct, I thought this would catch everyone's attention, and at least probs get interest from Morgan
Haha. Jim Carrey is not actually gay, but his latest movie is all over gay. I Love You Phillip Morris is based on the real life events of con artist, impostor, and multiple prison escapee Steven Jay Russell (Jim Carrey). While incarcerated, Russell falls in love with his cell mate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). After Morris is released from prison, Russell escapes from prison four times in order to be reunited with Morris. At first Steven Jay Russell is a happily married man living the American dream but after being hit by a car and realising his life is short he has an epiphany and outs himself to experience life to his full enjoyment.
While based on the real life capers of Steven Jay Russell I would say they are VERY loosely based on the events that took place to allow Carrey to go nuts Carrey style. The trailer had me in hysterics but no doubt alot of the more precious gays or homosexuals of the world will take offence. Personally, as a gay man, found this trailer bloody hysterical and I can't wait to see what Carrey does with the role. Releasing in February 2010.
