Would rather watch grass grow - sorry
Big thanks to Benny Boy for watching this one for Salty - I would have rather watched a game of cricket or grass grow or washed my hair or plait my cat's fur than see this so Benny and his lady, Nadia, stepped onto the red carpet to watch this train wreck
Thanks guys
After seeing "The Expendables 2" the previous night, my mind had to be in a completely different place for "Kath and Kimderella: The Movie". I had very low expectations going into this movie and I'm sad to say I was still disappointed. Admittedly, I was never a huge fan of the television series but still enjoyed the occasional episode. I think this was due to the fact that the television episodes were less than 30minutes, so in comparison to the film I only had to endure it in small doses. When we arrived at the red carpet it was exciting to meet the stars and see all the people who dressed up, which definitely got me in the mood and built up my expectations.
The film was not as fun to watch as the red carpet. I did genuinely laugh out loud a few times, but way too many of the jokes fell flat and resulted in little to no laughs. There were some jokes that were put in the movie for the die-hard fans, and there were a few pop-culture and political jokes that were a little bit funny, but were not humorous enough to make the audience laugh out loud.
"Kath and Kimderella: The Movie" begins with an introductory narrative which explains who each character is, and how they are connected; just in case they have been living under a rock the past 10 years. Kath (Jane Turner) and Kim (Gina Riley) play their characters brilliantly as usual, but the television series was just never meant to be made into a movie. Sharon (Magda Szubanski) is her usual self, playing Kim's "second best friend" and does it with gusto.
Once the introductions are done, Kath wins a competition and the three leading ladies (Kath, Kim and Sharon) are off on an overseas trip to a bankrupt Italian town and that's where the 'fun' begins. Also, coincidently in the same Italian town are the characters of Prue and Trude (Gina Riley and Jane Turner playing their other alter ego's) who featured too often; however to be honest I never liked these characters even on the television show.
The always-desperate Sharon is as usual not treated very well, but I found all of the jokes revolving around her were repeatedly making reference to whether she would come out of the closet. The first one or two references were funny, but then it got very old very fast.
There was one scene in particular where everyone in the cinema laughed (yes, even me), when the hilarious Frank Woodley is the sign-language interpreter. This scene was my favourite and reminded me of the Lano and Woodley days. For those who are unaware of this comedy duo I suggest searching them on google. They were hilarious together on the stand up circuit but have since split to embark on solo comedy careers. So in my honest opinion, instead of watching the film for this one enjoyable scene; I would suggest you watch the scene on YouTube then go watch more Frank Woodley comedy. If you do this, you will not be disappointed. I give this film "Kath and Kimderella: The Movie" a 4/10.

Good review from Benny Boy!
Even though this film got only 2 stars or less from film critics, I would still see it just to support Aussie films and Aussie talent.
I guess Kath and Kimderella is for fans only
Cheers!

Total Randomness
I think you will find most of the people panning it are the fans - flogging a dead horse so to speak.
I love supporting the Australian film industry but you won't catch me supporting total crap hahaha
I hope you get some enjoyment out of it
