Jean-Pierre Jeunet is just brilliant!!!

Jean-Pierre Jeunet would have to be one of the most original directors of ours and all time. He has made two of my all time favourite films. Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children. His imagination is of the Tim Burton class and his mind is on another planet. The cinematography of his films is always mind blowing, you may remember another of his films, Amelie. Also brilliant. I found Amelie was more mainstream commercial but this looks like he is back to his roots. At the bottom I have also included trailers for Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children incase you have never heard of the films. In this case - go and hire them - do yourself the favour!!! Again I miss out on its Australian release - I really need to pay more attention to art house propduct - I think I am becoming a lazy snob who only attends screenings I am invited to. Thank god for my firends at Dendy who will now keep me more informed
His new film looks just as awesome and stars a few of his regulars. "Micmacs tire-larigot" is about Bazil (Danny Boon), a man whose father was killed by a roadside bomb, is hit by a stray bullet in a freak drive-by shooting incident. When he gets out of the hospital without a job or any money, he falls in with an ex-con who lives in a scrap dump and makes plans to get revenge on those responsible.
I cannot wait for this on DVD and it has a 28th May 2010 release date in the USA - unfortunately it completely skipped my attention in Australia for its cinema release but a Dendy spokesperson informs me it did very very well on the Australian art house market. It has already released through most of Europe also. I really hope it gets a Blu Ray release in Australia as the visiuals deserve it!
