Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. If you watched the 7pm Project tonight you would have seen a brief clip of this powerful video clip created for WWF made for the younger audience and using music as its format. Ben Lee, being the environmentall proactive muso that he is had the song, Leo Burnett had the vision and the project was created. It is AWESOME!!!!!

Leo Burnett Sydney has created a music video-style film that shows a chimpanzee returning from space to an environmentally-decimated Earth.

The Monkey Returns, Ben Lee

The film, created for World Wildlife Fund (WWF), features a new track by Australian musician Ben Lee called "Song for the Divine Mother of the Universe."

It begins with footage from the US space program in the early 1960s, when primates where launched into space.

It then shows a chimp who has drifted in space for 65 years making its return to Earth. The chimp, which is now old and grey, is excited to be making its return home and is shown making a successful landing.

However, Earth in 2026 is environmentally devastated, leaving the chimpanzee alone on the planet. The clip ends with the chimp shedding a tear, with the tagline "It's not our planet, it's our home".

The 'Space Monkey' collaboration came about following discussions between Lee and Leo Burnett over the use of his song for an environmental cause. It was directed by Steve Rogers of Revolver Film.

It will debut on MTV this week, with Leo Burnett Australia CEO Todd Sampson also set to show it during his appearance on Channel Ten show The 7pm Project.

Andy DiLallo, ECD at Leo Burnett Sydney, said: "The idea of a monkey returning to Earth after 65 years lost in space is definitely not what you expect for an environmental message.

"The right music was crucial to capture the emotion we needed, which is where Ben Lee was perfect in helping to bring the story to life. It's a story that by nature is very cinematic, so it was a strong fit for both a music video and longer format film".

This will be blanketing TV and cinema soon with a big marketing campaign for the environment. Nice work.
