Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. Shutter Island (FULL TRAILER)- Scorcese and DiCaprio

: THIS WILL FRACKING ROCK
Category: No Category
Most of you know that Leo is my all time favourite actor. Everyone knows that Martin Scorcese knows how to make a decent film. If any of you have read the insanley brilliant novel known as Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane then you will be as if not more excited than me at how bloody brilliant this film is going to be. If you can get a copy of the book do it otherwise this trailer looks nearly page for page so it could be worth the wait - the suspense is brilliant. BRING IT ON!!!!!

Shutter Island Leonardo DiCaprio
Shutter Island Leonardo DiCaprio

Set in 1954 Mark Ruffalo and Leonardo DiCaprio team up as a pair of U.S. Marshals who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Massachusetts to search for an escaped mental patient, uncovering a web of deception along the way as they battle the forces of nature and a prison riot in this Martin Scorsese-helmed period picture. Laeta Kalogridis adapts Dennis Lehane's novel of the same name, with Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures splitting production and distribution duties. Ben Kingsley co-stars as the head of the institution where the patient resided. Max von Sydow, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson, and Jackie Earle Haley round out the supporting cast.

I'll have to read the book quickly before the film! It looks thrilling!

I am pretty sure you have until Boxing Day to read the book. Pretty sure it releases then.
It has some scary bits to it - but will blow your mind - way cool book. Dennis Lehane has written some already brilliant "converted to film" books. Mystic River plus Gone Baby Gone were his two most known so far.

Am so looking forward to it Max - if you read get a copy of the book. You can pick them up from 2nd hand stores for around $8-.

There is a horror flick coming out that is meant to be brilliant - Drag Me To Hell is getting some awesome write ups in the US. And the trailer is mad - I posted it a few months back in a group of ten trailers.

Yes! I read the book a few years ago and thought it'd make a great movie. Glad to see it landed in good hands.

Meggie - it pretty much landed in Hollywood royalty's hands - I can rest assured it won't be a slapped together piece of crap! Yay that!

Anonymous - won't be long and we will all find out. The trailer I saw had no hint of humor in it. I am intrigued now!

Scorcese never makes a bad film even if the content isn't to everyone's liking. It is always a good film.

Book is amazing Ina - it is a must read.

As for uploading videos - get them off You Tube or other online video hosting sites - you can also upload to these sites then copy the "Embed Code" and place on your site between these symbols

[ H T M L 3 4 5 6 ]you embed the code here[ / H T M L ]

I have placed spaces between each of the letters and numers otherwise it will not show up on the post, do not place the spaces when posting into your article - if you have more questions just message me

Hope this helps

Just finished the book...what a clever twist!

Though I must admit that some parts of the book lost me; a bit too long and unnecessary...? I think the movie will actually be better than the book in this case. Just my thoughts

Hi jason

You have heard this has been bumped to February 2010 Right? (Sorry for bad news if you hadn't.)

I like Leo in some things (Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries) but it has been ages since he has impressed. His collaborations with Scorsese have only been average IMO. (Miscast in Departed and gangs of New York just had problems all over it) but this one looks like it may be better....my fingers are crossed because the book was good.

Hey JD - I did hear about the push back in date - although they have not announced in Oz as yet. Bloody horrible as it will push the film out of contention for the Oscars and I was sure this would be Leo's one!!

I agree re The Deaprted and Gangs although I still found his acting in it flawless of what he was given. He is so desperate to stay with Scorsese for some reason, perhaps thinking this is where he will score his Oscar but he was robbed of his first nomination - should have gotten it for Gilbert Grape.

I think Scorses is taking less risks but to see him make a horror film with the talent that is in it will make for one SENSATIONAL film I think and hope. The book is amazing and if they stick to that they can't go wrong!
