Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. Sorority Row ($5-)

: It's Screm meets I Know What You Did Last Summer
Category: No Category
When five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never speak of it again, so they can get on with their lives. This proves easier said than done, when after graduation a mysterious killer goes after the five of them and anyone who knows their secret...

Sorority Row

This film is shockingly BAD. So bad that some of the scenes are good. It is just hot girls, and a few guys getting off their faces, naked and slaughtered. It will appeal to young teenage guys who want to get erections watching teenage girls get their boobs out. It is like a girl's sleepover pillow fight and appeals to all the cliches of said gathering. I laughed numerous times at how bad it was. I think the biggest thing going against this film is that you hate all the lead characters, they are all total sluts who I would have personally killed for the fun of it if in this story. I wouldn't need the excuse of watching them kill a friend accidentally.

Sorority Row Briana Evigan

Briana Evigan is the only exception - I really liked her and find her husky voice so unique and appealing onscreen. She was in the film Step Up 2 and S Darko (sequal to Donnie). I also liked some of the total bitchy calls from some of the Sorority sisters but this just highlighted how much I did not want to like any of the characters. They are all people who are spoilt rotten and don't have a clue about the real world except using themselves to get to the top. Another star in the film that was not too bad, although slightly annoying was Rumer Willis, Bruce and Demi's little girl all grown up.

The film steals from Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and every other teen horror film ever made. The evil stalking bad person also has their own weapon of choice to dispatch the young ladies. A tyre iron that has been remade with numerous sharp pointed objects attached to it. You will laugh when you fist see it.

Sorority Row

The director, Stewart Hendler, has made five other films that I have never heard of - I am assuming this was a hiccup in his career as most of the other films all have glowing comments from viewers. I also assume that Carrie Fisher is a good friend of his as I am still asking myself what the hell she was thinking. Here is a picture of her at the premiere and I gather this was taken after she saw the film. This picture screams "Oh shit, they've seen me, get me the f**k out of here".

Sorority Row Carrie Fisher

The writers (Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger) both worked together on a film Pirahna3D and some TV episodes for Avatar the Last Airbender and I fail to see how they managed to get this film - but their lack of horror is clearly evident - everything is patchwork color by numbers from other B grade horrors. I am sure this film will appeal to a lot of teenagers but sorry, it did zero for me.

Sorority Row Briana Evigan

All the characters do every wrong thing you can in a horror film and it is woefully predictable. I am sorry if I have spent the whole time whinging but when you see the brilliant films that end up straight to DVD and then you see this crap on in theatres your mind boggles. Out now and barely worth $5-.

This isn't my type of film anyway but you'd think they'd have done this sort of thing to death. If your review is anything to go by, it just seems as if they have churned it out without much thought or effort.

That's exactly what they did Janet - they had 6 incredibly HOT females and thought let's slap this film together and try and show as much of their skin as possible and who cares about the rest. I am still astounded that Carrie Fisher had anything to do with it. It has been done a MILLION times already and you think that making the same horror type films a million times eventually someone would have to change the story and make it decent. Surely they can see all the stupidity of the earlier ones!
Thanks for your comment.

This actually isn't as bad as you think. I actually found this to be better than average. The argument that you made about it being hot girls being slaughtered was correct, but then again you might as well say the same thing about every horror film of this decade with the exception of Martyrs, Inside, and Drag me to hell.

Sure this film is a remake which still pisses me off, but it was better than most remakes, and I don't see how you can give this less points than The Final destination which had virtually no plot, and was a complete fake blood and CGI mess.

If you look at this film as just a cheesy rainy day, B movie than you'll do just fine. It however doesn't work as The Final Destination, or the Collector.

Yes this film had less thought, but it's better than watching a classic horror film remade into a terrible film.

Thanks for your opinion Dunk Films - although I have never rated The Final Destination as it is not released here as yet. I am glad you got more out of it than I did.
It is funny you mention Martyrs and Drag Me To Hell - two of the horror films I have actually enjoyed this year.

"Yuck, this film is a horrible nightmare for me!" Yep, Jason. It's the feedback of my girlfriend to this film. Honestly, I personally thought the storyline was suck as well!

My final rating: 2.5 out of 10!
