I have a special spot in my heart for JJ Abrams. My biggest day of interviews ever on one of my favourite films of all time was just mind blowing. Riding the Star Trek express was one of the coolest days in my life. He was such a kind person to interview and looked after every single interviewer, if someone missed out on a question during round table interviews he autographed a poster for them and posed for a photo with them. He also treated bloggers with the same respect as TV reporters and for this I prefer interviewing him to say, Katzenberg who thought we were dirt
Not only that but I just loved everything about Cloverfield and it is evident that JJ is definitely on an astronomical rise with sci-fis becoming his forte of success.
Last week several websites started circulating the rumor that JJ Abram's mysterious, secret film project Super 8 was actually a sequel to Cloverfield. They said it with such certainty that everyone seemed to believe it. JJ Abrams, however, now says they're full of it. Talking to NY Mag he says of the film, "it has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield, despite your expert reporting".
That seems pretty definitive. So what is it? Released in front of Iron Man 2 in America it is evident it has something to do with Area 51. For now Abrams, as he did with Cloverfield, is going to extraordinary lengths to keep it under wraps. The movie's trailer was even sent to theaters in special canisters which required a code to be opened.
JJ is a master at creating interest and talk. For his last three films he has released little teaser trailers like this one that spark thousands of people speculating their conspiracy theories as to what the film will be about. He did it successfully with Cloverfield and released a TSR for Star Trek but we knew this would be Star Trek based
This one does the same again and all it shows is some large action and an involvement with Area 51. With Spielberg producing I am thinking Close Encounters updated for a modern audience and I would really like to know what your theories are.
