Welcome to Salty Popcorn - my site dedicated to expressing my opinion on films. Most of the reviews I read in the paper make me angry that they are either all so negative or I completely disagree with them. So now it's my turn. I hope you enjoy it and if you do sign up for updates on the left hand side. Thanks for stopping in!! Also, be sure to check out my other blogs www.sydneytable.com and http://www.orble.com/total-randomness/ PLEASE NOTE: My scoring of films is now based on an "Out of 10" score. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Actual concept art of post apocalypse LA from the film.

The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese (Anton is best known as playing opposite Anthony Hopkins as an 11yr old child in Hearts of Atlantis and soon to play Checkov in the new Star Trek film), Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams (best known for some pretty B grade stuff), Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star. It is also rumored that Josh Brolin will be the new terminator. This I think is amazing news. He is a great actor with recent brilliance in American Gangster, In The Valley of Elah and No Country for Old Men.

And then you have Christian Bale - who I just love ever since Empire of the Sun (1987) to American Psycho (2000), the awesome, Machinist (2004) and more lately as the winged crusader Batman. With him on board this film is going to have CRED. I am really looking forward to him as John Connor and think he will suit it well. As long as they throw on some scarring from battles!! Sam Worthington is another great choice, this Australian (of course) is slowly setting the film world on fire. He has come along way since Water Rats on TV to do things such as Somersault, Rogue and James Cameron's choice as the lead of the HUMONGOUS FILM OF THE GALAXY currently being filmed - AVATAR. I really think this T film could work. It is being directed by McG - so it is possible it could go either way. McG has brought us the Charlie's Angels films. OK - the first one was good. LOL. Has also produced a shitload of TV shows from the great OC to the even better Supernatural. So fingers crossed he is about to set his future. Screw this up and be hunted down by a million rabid fans, or succeed and get to do the new Terminator trilogy of films.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins marks the latest installment of the multi-billion dollar "Terminator" franchise and will be the first film in a new "Terminator" trilogy. The film is scheduled for a North American theatrical release May 22, 2009. The Halcyon Company acquired all "Terminator" franchise rights in May 2007.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, starring Sam Worthington and Christian Bale, began principal photography on May 5, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Halcyon Company Presentation of a Moritz Borman Production of a McG Film, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is directed by McG from a script by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. The film is being produced by Moritz Borman, Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek and Jeffrey Silver and executive produced by Peter D. Graves, Bahman Naraghi, Mario F. Kassar, Andrew G. Vajna, Joel B. Michaels, Dan Lin and Jeanne Allgood.

Warner Bros. Pictures is handling all U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for the film, with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling distribution rights in most international territories (excluding Korea and select Mideast territories).

I am sad there will be no more Arnie but let's hope they make something good!!

Hey Morgan,
The last one was pure S H I T.
I ignore it and think there was only 2.
There was an amazing trilogy of books written about 3yrs ago that continued the story ignoring the 3rd movie and I followed them. All I can remember is one of them was called "Rising Storm. But they were brilliant.
Thanks for the comment!

Is there any movie Christian Bale stars in that is not good? The guy is the epitome of career management and should be taught in acting schools.

I'm also excited to hear Moon Bloodgood is in this sequel. I think she was really good in Daybreak, a short-lived but exceptional TV series.

Rix: I doubt it but it would be good but Josh Brolin would pull it off. Maybe they will move to smart Terminators as opposed to bulky ones. I always thought the Rock (sorry Dwayne Johnson) now would make a good T Series.

Morgan: Massive finger cross the 4th installment can match the first two in some small way because I remember watching T2 - had been a projectionist for about 6 months and the film blew me away on every level. That was a film where special effects made the film and Robert Patrick was so evil!!

Ayda: I so agree with you - Christian Bale is just awesome. The only other actor that matches his successful film choice and career would be Leo. Now he is Scorsese's pet actor his career will continue to flourish. Christian Slater always mentions he wished he chose the roles Leo scored. And reading back on Bale's choices makes you smile. Not many people can throw in a super hero to their career that is credible!

Rod Jfy: Thanks for the big text - I can read it from the next room. LOL Avoid watching the 3rd movie - just ignore it. I never watched the Sarah Connor Chronicles but it does fit in the story line. I believe it is Sarah and John hiding out and moving around. Going to school etc. Trying to live a normal life with machines after them. Good concept. Hot young John Connor, a sexy female robot sent to help. It could encourage a new generation to get into it but I am quite sure it will lack that suspense, will this thing ever stop feeling.

I just posted a little nugget about this on my blog as well. I think Christian Bale is a great choice (ofcourse I do, he's one of my Alphas!) but I am a wee bit surprised he would sign on to another franchise while he's still doing Batman. Should be cool, though. He's an amazing actor and a real man's man.

Personally, I don't think it's Terminator unless James Cameron is directing. The third one WAS a major disappointment to me. Of course with Christian Bale as Conner, I think this one's gonna rock.

Anon - I completely agree but have faith in Bale to pick a good one. Can't wait!!
